NOVI, MI - Shamrock football wins hard earned victory on Friday night against Dewitt Panthers at the Elm, 45-38. The game started off shakily for the Shamrocks with the Panthers putting the Shamrocks in a two score deficit. The tide finally started to turn when Spencer Lyons, number fourteen, ran the ball into the endzone with forty seconds remaining in the first quarter for the first Shamrock score of the night. After a quick switch of quarterbacks, Skylar Hunter, who has elite running skills for a quarterback, created an opportunity for the DCC football team to take another one to the house after doing immense damage with his feet. Faking left and cutting back to the right, Hunter was able to put the Shamrock offense in the red zone yet again. The Panther defense proved to be a formidable obstacle however, and the Shamrocks were forced to kick a field goal. The rest of the first half was a battle of the defenses until the Panthers were able to kick a field goal of their own at the end of the first half, making the halftime score 10-17 in favor of the Panthers.

Bo Jackson, who was the starting quarterback, returned to the game in a large fashion. Immediately upon the beginning of the third quarter, Bo delivered a short ball to Brady Blakita, who was able to juke defenders and gain a large amount of yardage because of his blazing speed. Five minutes later, the DCC football team was able to find the endzone, thus tying the game at seventeen a piece. The Panthers refused to let the energy shift in favor of the Shamrocks and proceeded to score on the very next play. Most of the second half would follow suit, with both teams answering each other's scoring. With five minutes left in the third quarter, Spencer Lyons converted a fourth down attempt and turned it into a magnificent touchdown. To end the third, it was Brady Blakita with yet another huge gain, this time of seventy one yards. Five minutes into the fourth quarter, the DCC football squad was able to add to their total with another touchdown. This score was promptly answered by Dewitt three minutes later, which was then answered by Brady Blakita two minutes later. With eighteen seconds left in the game, Dewitt scored once more, forcing overtime. The Shamrocks lost the coin toss, but started on offense to begin overtime. The DCC squad didn't waste any time scoring, as Spencer Lyons plowed his way through the Panther's defense to score which would eventually become the game winning touchdown. The Panther's had an attempt to match the Shamrocks, but were met with an impossibly strong Shamrock defensive line. As a final exclamation point, Brayden Courser sacked the quarterback to end the game, which was a fitting ending to such an enjoyable game. The offensive player of the game is Brady Blakita, who was a crucial part in securing the Shamrock's success. The defensive player of the game is Brayden Courser, which isn't much of a shock considering his impressive resume. Courser was involved in almost every single tackle and even helped block for the offense.
