Detroit Catholic Central's Football Coach, Justin Cessante, was named the Central Division Coach of the Year for the 2023 school year by the Catholic High School League (CHSL). The CHSL is the largest Catholic sports league in the United States, comprised of 33 private high schools located in southeast Michigan.

Coach Cessante became the 13th head coach in Catholic Central's history in January of 2023. He has two decades of high school football coaching experience, including as JV Head Coach and Varsity Defensive Coordinator. During this time, he coached in five MHSAA D1 finals, winning the 2009 State Championship.

Before being named Head Coach at Catholic Central High School, Coach Cessante served as the Director of Strategic Partnerships and the National Director of Football at the Legacy Center Sports Complex. He also operated as the Executive Director of LEAD Foundation.

"I am very proud of our staff and players as well as all the administration and support staff that have spent time, effort, and resources on the 2023 football season. I especially credit our football staff for this honor as Central Division Coach of the Year. This honor would be impossible without the support of the hardest working staff in the state of Michigan," stated Coach Cessante.

Coach Cessante, along with several members of the Detroit Catholic Central High School Football Team, will be honored at the All Catholic, All League, and All Academic Football Honor Teams Presentation during the post-game ceremonies of the 4:30 PM Prep Bowl game on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Ford Field.
