12/1/2023 10:20:00 AM

The defending Division 1 champs, the Catholic Central Shamrocks, will start the year with a fantastic challenge as they welcome 10x defending D2 Champions the Lowell Red Arrows to Catholic Central for the annual assembly match on Wednesday, December 6th at 1:45 pm.

"It's a great opportunity for us right out of the gates to be able to compete in front of our entire student body," said Head Wrestling Coach Mitch Hancock.  "Coach Rodriguez established something special with the assembly match, which led to schools across the country hosting an event. The Shamrock Nation supports wrestling at CC, it's a huge part of our tradition and it's fun to be able to compete in front of our community."

The Shamrocks return three individual state champions in Wyatt Lees, Darius Marines, and Connor Bercume as well as state finalist Mason Stewart.  "Those guys are our leaders on the mat and off.  They work hard, carry the standard, and are extremely humble in their approach and driven to lead," said Shamrock Head Wrestling Coach Mitch Hancock.  Also returning for the Shamrocks are state place-winners Nathan Walkowiak and Lee Krueger along with state qualifiers Simon Dominguez and Michael Cannon.

Lowell returns a talented group led by Jarret Smith and returning state champs Jackson Blum, and Owen Segorski.   It'll be an exciting afternoon at Catholic Central.  The Varsity B teams will wrestle at the conclusion of the Varsity A team dual.
