12/16/2024 12:10:00 PM

This past Saturday, the Catholic Central Wrestling team showcased their strength and determination by winning the Oakland County Championships at Lake Orion High School. Known as one of the largest and most competitive tournaments in the country, the event featured over 40 schools exclusively from Oakland County. The Shamrocks claimed the team championship title with an impressive 294.5 points, outpacing runner-up Clarkston, who finished with 257.5 points.

The Shamrocks entered 13 wrestlers into the tournament and delivered an outstanding performance, with 11 athletes placing in the top four of their respective weight classes. Leading the way for Catholic Central were four County Champions: Alex Buskirk, Nathan Walkowiak, Cadon Waatti, and Grayson Fuchs. Adding to the team's success, four wrestlers earned runner-up finishes: Lee Krueger, Andrew White, Wyatt Lees, and Braxton Roche. Rounding out the podium placements were three third-place finishers: Meyer Murray, Caden Krueger, and Jayse Nagy. This dominant showing underscores the depth and talent of the Shamrocks' roster as they continue to build momentum this season.

Coach Hancock reflected on the team's performance, stating, "I'm proud of our guys and the way they handled this weekend. They showed great sportsmanship, competed hard, and really understand that this tournament is a small step along the journey. We'll get back to the 'Cave' and continue working."
Next up, the Shamrocks will travel to Indiana for the Carnahan Invitational at Crown Point High School on Saturday. Renowned as one of the premier tournaments in the Midwest, the Carnahan Invitational will provide another opportunity for the team to compete at the highest level and solidify their reputation as a wrestling powerhouse.

Congratulations to the Catholic Central Wrestling team on their remarkable victory at the Oakland County Championships, and best of luck as they prepare for the challenges ahead!

White Team Competes at Williamston Team Tournament
The Catholic Central Wrestling program's depth was on full display this weekend as the White Team competed at the Williamston Duals, finishing with a 2-3 record. The ability to field two varsity-level teams speaks to the strength and commitment of the Shamrocks' roster.
The White Team notched commanding victories over Gabriel Richard (75-6) and Swan Valley (55-21). Despite hard-fought efforts, the team fell short against three state-ranked Division 3 opponents: #8 Adrian Madison (47-27), #10 Williamston (55-23), and #7 Lakewood (39-35).
Seniors Nico Pasienza, Drew Brewer, and Daniel Stinson led the way with outstanding performances throughout the event, providing leadership and earning crucial points for the team.
