The Detroit Catholic Central Shamrocks Varsity Basketball team squared off against South Lyon East in the MHSAA District final on Friday, March 1st, at South Lyon East High School. The Shamrock faithful made the short trip to South Lyon, and packed the stands to offset the home court advantage.
From the opening tip-off, it was evident that the Shamrocks meant business. Unlike their previous game against Northville where they stumbled out of the gate, the Shamrocks came out firing on all cylinders against South Lyon East. They wasted no time in establishing their dominance, sinking buckets early on.
However, South Lyon East refused to go down without a fight. The game quickly turned into a back-and-forth battle, with both teams trading blows and momentum swings. Despite the relentless efforts of the Cougars, the Shamrocks remained composed and determined to secure victory.
Under the leadership of Head Coach Tory Jackson, who is in his first year at the helm, the Shamrocks showcased poise. They maintained their lead and weathered every storm thrown their way by South Lyon East. In the end, their efforts paid off as they emerged as victors, clinching the MHSAA District Championship.
For the Detroit Catholic Central Shamrocks, this victory held special significance as it marked their first District title since 2022.
The Shamrocks will face off next against Ann Arbor Huron at Northville High School on Tuesday, March 5th, in the MHSAA Regional Semi-Final.
