This past weekend, the Detroit Catholic Central volleyball team hosted its first-ever Basil Bowl with St. Michael's College School from Toronto. The event was a great mix of sports, friendship, and fun.

Friday: Mass, Volleyball, and Team Dinner

The weekend started on Friday with Mass, where both teams came together to celebrate their shared Basilian faith. After that, the teams played an exhibition match - a friendly game to get to know each other better. That evening, players and coaches shared a team dinner, which gave everyone a chance to talk and build new friendships.
The St. Michael's team also got a tour of Catholic Central's Hall of Science, and they even got to see the robotics team in action, which was a highlight of their visit.

Saturday: Hartland Invitational Tournament

On Saturday, both teams took part in the Hartland Invitational, a local volleyball tournament. After a full day of matches, St. Michael's and CC faced each other in the finals. St. Michael's won the championship match, but both teams played well and showed great sportsmanship.

Looking Ahead

Coach Bridgitte Laffrey said it was a great weekend of volleyball and friendship. "It was awesome to see our teams come together and have fun on and off the court," she said.
The teams are already hoping to meet again next year - this time in Toronto for another Basil Bowl.
