Detroit Catholic Central is proud to announce that our Esports team has claimed not one, but two state championship titles in both Valorant and Fortnite, two of the most competitive titles in high school Esports today.
The Valorant State Championship was especially memorable, as it was broadcasted live in the new Immersion Theater, located inside the George and Mary Turek Hall of Science. This marked the first time a state title match was hosted in the new facility.
Just days later, our Fortnite team secured its own state championship at a live competition hosted by Oakland University. Their victory not only adds another trophy to the case but also highlights the depth and versatility of Catholic Central's Esports program.
These back-to-back championships represent a major milestone for Catholic Central's Esports program, which has grown rapidly in both size and stature.Â
With state-of-the-art equipment, dedicated coaching, and passionate student-athletes, the program continues to push the boundaries of what's possible in high school competitive gaming.
"We're incredibly proud of what our Esports team has accomplished," said Coach Stephen Juncaj '18. "These players put in countless hours of practice and preparation. They've truly earned this achievement, and we're excited to see what the future holds."
Now, the Fortnite and Valorant teams turn their attention to the 2025 PlayVS Cup. They will compete starting May 19th in the National Championships.
Congratulations to our Esports Shamrocks on a double state championship!
