Catholic Central Wrestling claimed the 61st Catholic Central Invitational Championship in thrilling fashion, edging out an impressive field to secure the team title by the narrowest of margins. The Shamrocks finished with 175.5 points, just one point ahead of Brighton (174.5), fueled by seven finalists and four individual champions in a tournament that came down to the final bouts.

No performance loomed larger than Mack Moscovic '27's signature win at 138 pounds. In one of the most electrifying matches of the tournament, Moscovic defeated three-time defending state champion Dale Gant of Grand Rapids Catholic Central by a 12–5 decision. Trailing late, Moscovic delivered when it mattered most, scoring a clutch third-period takedown and near fall to swing both the match and the team race.

Senior captain Wyatt Lees '26 was dominant on his way to the title at 132 pounds, pinning all four opponents he faced. Lees capped his run with an emphatic finals performance, sticking returning state finalist Ethan Smith of Brighton in just 1:17, setting the tone for the Shamrocks' championship push.

At 157 pounds, Alex Buskirk '26 continued his strong season by knocking off Brother Rice's #3-ranked Deacon MacNeil with a gritty 4–3 victory, sealing the match with a key third-period takedown. Caden Krueger '27 earned the title at 190 pounds with an impressive 11–2 major decision over Rockford's Logan Hammingh.  Jamison Gregory '27 rounded out the Championships for Catholic Central in an all-Shamrock showdown at 126 pounds. Jamison Gregory emerged victorious over teammate Ryan Totten '27 with a 7–4 decision.

Gabe Ryzyi '29 delivered a strong performance at 106 pounds, finishing runner-up after falling in the finals to Rockford's Brody Compau.

Depth proved to be the difference in the team race. Collin Payne '26 delivered one of the weekend's biggest momentum swings at 215 pounds, scoring a huge major decision in the consolation finals. Payne secured the bonus with a takedown in the final three seconds to earn third place, a result that ultimately loomed large in the one-point team victory. Gavin Boller '29 and Meyer Murray '28 also contributed, each placing sixth at 106 and 138 pounds, respectively.

Catholic Central will return to action Thursday, traveling to Perrysburg, Ohio, as the Shamrocks continue a demanding midseason stretch against elite competition.
