Catholic Central rugby has done it again.

The Shamrocks captured their second consecutive Division 1 State Championship on Saturday, June 6, 2026, defeating Rockford in a thrilling state final at the University of Michigan. After the teams battled to a 27-27 draw through regulation and overtime, Catholic Central prevailed in a kicks competition to secure the championship.

The victory was especially meaningful for the Shamrocks, who entered the match seeking redemption after a 26-19 regular-season loss to Rockford just three weeks earlier. 

CC advanced to the state final with a hard-fought 40-34 victory over West Ottawa in the semifinals, setting up the rematch with Rockford for the Division 1 crown.
