Samson Gash ’26 Named May Athlete of the Month

Samson Gash ’26 has been named Detroit Catholic Central’s May Athlete of the Month for his strong performances this spring on the varsity track and field team.

Gash has consistently delivered impressive results in sprinting events. He recently ran the 100-meter dash in 10.60 seconds, placing him among the top high school sprinters in the state. He also contributed to the school’s record-breaking 4x100-meter relay, which finished with a time of 41.80 seconds.

In the 200-meter dash, Gash’s time of 21.37 seconds ranks in the top five in Michigan and is just 0.03 seconds shy of Catholic Central’s all-time school record of 21.34.

With regional and state meets ahead, Gash looks to build on his success as the team heads into the final stretch of the season.
