1961 HOCKEY TEAM
In its third season, the International High School Hockey League, composed of American and Canadian high schools, expanded from its original eight (8) to twelve (12) teams in the 1960-61 season. For the second time in the league's three year history, CC once again captured the league title, playoff title, and State Championship recognition. This 1961 team, led by captain Tom O'Dea and goalie Jim Dunn, had a number of outstanding senior and junior players. Posting a 10-2-1 regular season record, CC won the championship playoffs by beating Benedictine in two (2) straight games and Riverside in two (2) out of three (3) games. Fr. Enright's long term effort at establishing a high school hockey program was now firmly in place. The International High School Hockey League continued to grow rapidly in the number of schools participating, leading to the establishment of the Michigan Hockey League (MIHL), and membership in the present day Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA). As of 2017, the Catholic Central hockey program has captured fifteen (15) State and two (2) National Championships.
