Hall of Fame
Mike Sheridan, Catholic Central (CC) Class of 1990, was an exceptional student-athlete. He competed in Cross Country (XC) and Track from 1987 to 1990. Mike's strong commitment, dedication, and leadership played a big part in the Shamrock team's success. His performance helped the team win the Catholic High School League’s (CHSL) Cross Country title twice and the Track Team title. He was a key member of the CC Cross Country Team, which won the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Regional title twice and the 1989 MHSAA Cross Country Division I State Championship. At CC, Mike showed himself as a true leader and excelled as team captain in his senior year.

Coach Magni acknowledged Mike's exceptional contribution to the team, saying that winning the state championship would have been impossible without him. Mike's strategic approach to races, no matter the distance, really showed off his unique skills.

Individually, he received numerous honors, including All Observerland honors six times (three in track and three in cross country) and All-Catholic honors six times (three in track and three in cross country). He was the Individual Catholic High School League Champion twice in cross country (5000 meters) and the CHSL Champion three times on the track in the 3200 meters, a feat unmatched in CHSL history. In addition, he has three Individual MHSAA Regional championships, two in track (1600 meters and 3200 meters) and one in cross country (5000 meters). Mike earned All-State honors twice in cross country. In 1989, he was chosen by the Michigan Interscholastic Track Coaches Association (MITCA) for the Mid-East Cross Country Team, which represented Michigan in the Midwest Meet of Champions. That fall, he was named an AAU Cross Country All-American.Â
In the spring of 1990, he was a finalist for the CHSL Athlete of the Year and was invited to compete in The Athletic Congress (TAC) National Junior Olympics.

Mike Sheridan was an outstanding student and a Catholic Central National Honor Society member. He was recruited to continue his education and running career at Brown University, where he ran for two years and earned his degree in Organizational Behavior Management. He has been married to Allison since 2007 and is currently an independent consultant providing best practices and senior-level implementation services to many prestigious companies.

Mike Sheridan's ability to shine academically and athletically is impressive. His track and cross-country achievements have left an unforgettable mark on the CC athletic legacy. We welcome him to the Detroit Catholic Central Athletic Hall of Fame.
