1970 WRESTLING TEAM

The Varsity Wrestling Teams of 1969, 1970, and 1971 became the first in the history of Catholic Central to win wrestling state championships. These teams also earned the proud distinction of becoming the first wrestling teams to "three-peat" in the history of the Michigan High School Athletic Association. Under the direction of Hall of Fame Coach, Mike Rodriguez, the 1969, 1970, and 1971 wrestling teams amassed a total of 5 individual state champions, including the program's first, Chris Antoniotti '69, and seven additional all-state honors. For his efforts, Coach Rod earned numerous Coach of the Year distinctions and was named National Coach of the Year in 1972. We thank the members of these state championship teams for setting the standard for Shamrock Wrestling and for beginning the championship tradition that the CC Wrestling program maintains today.
