Aaron Roberts, a posthumous inductee from the Class of 1982, was a three-sport athlete competing in football, basketball, and track at Catholic Central High School for three varsity seasons, excelling in football and track.

In 1979 and 1980, Aaron's impact on the field was unparalleled. He was rated as the top high school running back in the country, amassing 2335 yards and scoring 24 touchdowns in his final two seasons at CC. Coach Mach praised him: “He was a great high school runner who combined power and speed. He was a game-breaking runner who never got caught from behind. He was well-respected by everyone at CC.” His achievements were not just personal but team victories, as he was the lead running back for the Shamrock 1979 Catholic High School League (CHSL) Champions and the 1979 Michigan High School Athletic Association’s (MHSAA) District, Regional and State Champions.

Aaron was the most highly recruited running back in the country. He received many Division 1 offers, including offers from Notre Dame and Michigan. He chose Michigan State (MSU). He played at MSU from 1981 to 1984. As a freshman, he was MSU’s leading rusher in 1981 and a Football News Freshman All-American. He also was a receiver and kick returner. He played on the 1984 MSU team that played the Army in the Cherry Bowl—MSU’s first bowl game since 1966. Although an injury affected his playing time, his career stats were 28 games, eight touchdowns, and 48 points. He earned a degree in Telecommunications from MSU. After MSU, he accepted a tryout with the Denver Broncos.

Aaron was a solid forward for the Shamrocks in basketball but once again excelled in track. He was the CHSL, Observerland 100, 200 meters, and long jump champion.

Aaron was friendly, engaging, and destined for success. But tragically, he passed away in 1991. He is survived by his wife, Elaine, and daughter Airel.

Aaron Roberts' name will be forever remembered in the Catholic Central High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
