BIOGRAPHY
THOMAS JOZWIAK '55
One of CC's finest all-around athletes, Tom Jozwiak excelled in basketball, football and track & field while at Catholic Central, earning all-star recognition in each sport. Tom won the State Championship in shot put, and set the school shot put record in 1955, a record that remained unbroken until 1982. As a senior, Tom was the recipient of the Fr. James H. Whelan Award. After graduation from CC, Tom accepted an appointment to the inaugural class of the United States Air Force Academy. He played football for the Air Force Falcons from 1956-1959, leading his team to an undefeated season and Cotton Bowl appearance in 1959. As an officer in the United States Air Force, Tom served three tours of combat duty in Vietnam, becoming a distinguished and decorated veteran.
