JEFFREY WISKA '77


Long known as one of the best Linemen ever to take the field for Catholic Central, Jeff Wiska played for the Shamrocks in 1975 and 1976. In 1976, Jeff earned All-Catholic honors and was named the Catholic High School League (CHSL) Most Valuable Defensive Lineman. After graduating from CC, Jeff earned a football scholarship to attend Michigan State University. At MSU,Jeffwas a 3-year starting Offensive Tackle and helped lead the Spartans to the Big Ten Championship in 1978. Jeff's honors during college include being named to the All-American Strength Team, Most Valuable Lineman, Iron Man Award, and the Gerald R. Ford Up-Front Award. He also played in both the Hula Bowl and Japan Bowl. Jeff was selected to the 1980's Michigan State"All-Decade" Team. Jeff was drafted by the New York Giants in the 7 dl Round of the 1982 NFL Draft. He later played in the USFL for the Michigan Panthers and the Oakland Invaders. In 1986, Jeff returned to the NFL and played for the Cleveland Browns and Miami Dolphins. In 1988, Jeff came home to Detroit and played for the Detroit Drive Of the Arena Football League and helped the Drive win the Arena Bowl Championship.
