The 2010 Golf Team brought home their second state championship in program history as a part of Catholic Central’s record 6th state championship of the 2009-2010 school year.
Led by Head Coach Bill Hayes, the Shamrocks had wins in the regular season at the Huron Invitational and Byron Invitational. Paced by All-Staters Mike Panek, Charlie Green, and Blake Tschirhart, the Shamrocks left no doubts after their convincing win in the State Finals, defeating Forest Hills Central and Brother Rice to capture the championship at Michigan State University’s Forest Akers East Course.
While other teams stayed at hotels in East Lansing, the Shamrock golfers woke up each morning, met for breakfast, and then drove to the state tournament. That team unity paid off, as nobody could match the Shamrocks' performance in winning the Division I championship. Entering the second day leading Grand Rapids Forest Hills Central and Davison by four strokes, Blake Tschirart, Charlie Green, Mike Panek, and Austin Sophiea all shot under par to help the Alma Mater win the state title by 14 strokes with a record-setting team score of 569.
