1979 FOOTBALL TEAM
Considered by many to be the greatest Football team in CC history, the 1979 team was the first CC football team to earn a State Championship in the MHSAA era and the first of Coach Tom Mach's teams to earn such distinction. The 1979 team lived-up to their pre-season #1 ranking by finishing with a record of 12-0. Along the way they shut-out 6 of their opponents, and earned a #8 national ranking by the National Sports News Service. Coach Tom Mach was named Coach of the Year by both the Detroit News and the Detroit Free Press. Mike Lewis, Aaron Roberts, Pat Moug, Dave Yudasz, Mike Baucus, Rick Micunek, John Utter, Tim Geran, Mike Renkiewicz and Jim Harding all received All-State recognition.
