BIOGRAPHY

WILLIAM FOLEY '42


A CC student-athlete who became a coaching legend, Bill Foley was quarterback of the 1941 Catholic Central Football Team, and a champion boxer for CC in 1942. After graduation, Bill returned to CC in 1952 and became Head Basketball Coach and Assistant Football Coach. In 1956, Bill became Head Football Coach and, over the next 14 years, led the Shamrocks to Catholic League Football Titles in 1960, 1961 and 1963. In 19 years as Head Basketball Coach, Bill's teams earned 184 wins, winning eight Central Division Titles, three Catholic League Titles and CC's first Basketball State Championship in 1961. Bill is a member of the Catholic League Hall of Fame, the Michigan High School Coaches Associa60n Hall of Fame, and was the recipient of the Fr. Canning E Harrison Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1995.
