REV. JAMES MARTIN, CSB
Considered by many to be the founding father of CC athletics. Fr. Martin served as CC's first Athletic Director and made CC famous as Head Baseball Coach where his teams won 13 City Championships and 14 consecutive Catholic League Championships between 1936 and 1949. In those days, City Championships were the equivalent of State Championships. Fr. Martin was also the key figure in the creation of one of CC's greatest traditions when, in 1944, he envisioned a football game between the best high school football team in Michigan against the best high school football team in America, Fr. Flanagan's Boy's Town from Omaha, Nebraska. The famed match-up was named the Boys' Bowl. Fr. Martin is a member of the Catholic League Hall of Fame and the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame.
