RICK JONES '71
Rick "Jonesy' Jones is considered by many Shamrock Wrestling enthusiasts as one of the toughest, most hard-nosed, and most physical of our State Champions and All-Americans to step on a Catholic Central wrestling mat for Coach Mike Rodriguez. Under Rick's leadership, Catholic Central won three consecutive Class A team state titles in 1969, 1970 and 1971. Rick won individual state titles in 1970 at 1651bs and 1971 at 1851bs, and earned a scholarship to wrestle at Oklahoma State University. While at Oklahoma State, Rick led the Cowboys to four consecutive Big Eight Conference team titles and three top three finishes at the NCAA Tournament in 1972-1975. Rick was a four time Big Eight Conference finalist, winning Big Eight Conference championships in 1973 and 1974 at 1771bs.
